Palk Straight (India to Sri Lanka)

Hi, just in case anyone had dreams of doing this (it has been mentioned many years ago), I have had to turn down a slot for it this March as after my EC swim, I need a break. The swim is now full for this year, but there are possibilities for 2021. As far as I am aware , it has only been swum by a handful of people from India and Sri Lanka, is about 17 miles and warm/clear. There are strong possibilities of being the first across for your continent (unless you are Asian).
I have contact details for the chap who organises this from the Indian side (being India there is a lot of bureaucracy to go through which he can negotiate and sort out).
Let me know if this is of interest.
Thanks

It's of great interest - perhaps you could post some info here for the benefit of the community?
Very much interested!

I've just heard that a few friends of mine are planning to do it in February, the first westerners to do the swim. It will be a hot water swim at about 28°C. Some of the swimmers doing that have already done the round HK swim.
I'll update once I get more details later.
sorry for the delay - this chap is your man. swimthulasi@gmail.com
I was originally promised a slot to be the first westerner to swim it - but my slot was end March. It is perhaps just as well that I pulled out as I would have been fed up to find out somebody got in before me after all that expense!
I have just heard from my club that Edie Hu and Adam Moss crossed the strait this morning, 29 km, 10h18.
