Hey everyone, I've had an old Road ID light for when I swim in the dark, actually two but I gave one away. I tried seeing if Road ID still sells them, but alas it doesn't appear as if they do. Those anyone have a link to a company that sells lights that one can clip onto your goggles and suit? Any help would be much appreciated.

they are also useful for locating your drone / quadcopter that has gotten lost over high trees if you come back at night. Just sayin.

For what it's worth this one is rechargeable and the light can be set to 4 or different colors. It lasted 14+ hours on one swim. As in, it was on when I got in and when I got out. https://ruffwear.com/products/the-beacon-safety-dog-light

    Old school glow-sticks work fine.

True, they do. I like my rechargeable light because I can use it again and again for swimming and it goes on all my winter morning dog walks. Turns out it clips perfectly to goggles and dog collars 😉

I know there are a number of links for various types of waterproof lights so we can be seen, and some stories of using multiple sticks on kayaks so we can locate them, and hazards related to spotlight use. What I haven't seen is examples and guidance on navigation on night swims to see event turn buoys, stay on track and not just follow the bobbing light on the swimmer ahead. I even found a swimer buoy float with a waterproof LED light. I expect that putting a waterproof light on or inside any towable that is translucent would work (in the drybag, or drink pocket?)

A quote I found important to think about was "a white strobe can be mistaken for an emergency distress beacon by the U.S. Coast Guard." I want to be sure I can see and be seen, but not indicate I need rescue (unless I really DO.)

    Hi there!
I totally get the need for a reliable swim light. While it's a bummer that Road ID doesn't seem to sell them anymore, you might want to check out other options. Brands like Speedo, Garmin, and FINIS have some great swim lights that you can clip onto your goggles or suit.
