Congrats to Spanish swimmer Christian Jongeneel on his back to back swims around Manhattan

mauprietomauprieto New Orleans, LAMember

He completed the 92km swim in 20 hours, becoming (to the best of my knowledge) the 4th person to swim two laps around Manhattan. The other three were US swimmers Stacy Chattan in 1984, Juline Ridge in 1983 and Skip Storch in 2007.

It looks like this swim was hosted by Urban Swim.

I don't wear a wetsuit; it gives the ocean a sporting chance.

That's so cool! When I did MIMS, I remember asking Morty if I could go again as he was helping me out at the finish. He thought I was joking, but I was actually serious. How fun! :-)

Is Urban Swim organizing Round-Manhattan swims now? Hadn't heard that. Is there potential for a CSA/CSPF sort of situation with MIMS now?

I do read the Forum, @Niek. Quite regularly. Do you?

I was referring to NY Open Water vs. Urban Swim.

Niek said: So why mention MIMS?

Because that's what the swim has been called, for ~35 years, even before the existence of NYC Swim. Some day the festering carcass of NYC Swim will be consumed and apportioned, and some other organisation will take over the MIMS brand. It seemed probable that would be NY Open Water, but now that Urban Swim is organizing doubles, who knows?
