Maltodextrin Drink Flavoring

I usually use just a mixture of water and maltodextrin when training or racing and it's a pretty boring taste. I've tried all sorts of things to give it a slight flavor and until now haven't found anything I liked. That's changed. I found that if I make unsweetened iced tea using Twining's Lady Grey tea and then combine it in a 50% iced tea and %50 water mixture with the maltodextrin, it's a very pleasant, light taste and a really good smell, to boot. Also, it adds some caffeine into the mixture.

Thanks for sharing this, LBJ! Sounds tasty.

What do other folks like to flavor their malto with? Personally I like apple juice with a splash of cranberry.

These things are great if you are travelling to a swim and don't want to risk looking for your favourate flavour when you get there. :-)

Yes, that's why the Twining's Lady Grey - no sugar or anything else sweet, but it's very nice, indeed.

@dc_in_SF - That Coola Lime stuff looks radioactive.

@Lynne and @Leonard_Jansen - It may look like something dreamed up by a mad scientist but it is most delicious! :) (The red version is also not bad)

While I have only ever used it for one race, I really love Country Time Pink Lemonade.

We'll see if I still love it after SCAR in a few weeks
