We're all just carbon, water, starlight, oxygen and dreams
I think that spot is on loan from @courtneypaulk

Weather looks like clear skies, light winds, and hot hot hot again today.
An update or two may be available on twitter (@)andrewswims and on facebook as well, for those of you who stay up way too late on Wednesday nights.
I don't wear a wetsuit; it gives the ocean a sporting chance.

"Good morning: first dispatch of the morning from the swim is the the swim team - but not the swimmer - encountered trouble at about 3:20 a.m. when the engine of the Seabiscuit died and left them dead in the water. Elaine however swam on with the kayak as safety boat as well as official observer Andrew Malinak, himself a marathon swimmer, joining Elaine to swim alongside. We'll have another update shortly on Elaine's historic attempt to swim the length of Lake Pend Oreille."
I love the name of the lake as well, "Hanging ear " or something like that. My french is waaay too rusty.
Elaine is AMAZING. I have't been able to take my eye of the Spot track!

Glad to she this getting the attention. The residents seem to be really into it (and Lou's is getting their money's worth out of that banner). Listening to Anthony Mc Carley's interview where he was commenting what a pleasant experience it was to have people cheering for him at the finish. It seems as though there is going to be quite the event at Elaine's finish line.
I daresay that she is inspiring more than one little girl!
I don't believe in jinxes. And no matter what happens from here, all I can say is all I've been saying all day. SPECFREAKINGTACULAR!
No bullshit, no exaggerated hype. Just say when, where, how, and what you are doing -- just the facts, ma'am -- and then DO IT. Reach out to a local reporter or two to help you get the word out. Find a qualified, technologically capable observer such as Andrew to document it. And people will recognize it for what it is: a remarkable athletic achievement.
Bring it home, Elaine!!
[Edit apparently I need to refresh before posting since Greg covered this

Excellence is born of preparation, dedication, focus and tenacity; compromise on any of these and you become average.

And if I might also congratulate the crew. Congratulations crew.
Props too, to Grecoc. Thank you man!
And an "ups" for Ucan. If I were Lou's, I'd start selling "Ucan drivers" (Ucan openers?) "the drink that gives you both "Beer Muscles" and the endurance to back them up (somewhat)."
I'm afraid people will misjudge this, but. As to the children in the picture. What I like is that they get to see a wonderful athlete with a human body. They are disabused of the "impossible" body image of the Gymnast, Ballerina, Figure Skater, Barbi Doll. And the mommies are disabused of the notion that only teen to 20somethings can be "World Record Holders"
It's the same with the men in this sport. And this is to say that people of all shapes, sizes and ages can and do extraordinary things in this sport.

Since this event was sanctioned by The Community, I now present to you The Community: my observations of Elaine's swim across Lake Pend Oreille.
A PDF of my typed up log is here,
a ZIP file of data(!) is here,
and a webpage with all this and a few notes is to the left a few words.
Eventually, I'm going to write a narrative or two summarizing the highlights of the swim, especially the exciting parts that aren't captured too well by, "stroke rate 68, winds E 5kt, waves <1ft."
To summarize: The Queen is squeaky clean.
Please do let me know if you have questions or comments about any of this.

Obviously, the highlight of the video is at 2:48, a shot of me in a speedo in the middle of the night trying to restart the RIB.
