Carlsbad/Oceanside in CA

Looks like I will be in Temecula for work next week for a few days, so am going to stay out in Carlsbad (limited pool access in Temecula AFAICT). Any recommendations for ocean swimming in the area or is just a matter of hopping in at the nearest beach?

    I believe Tri-club San Diego (TCSD) has some open water swims. Also, La Jolla Cove is a can't miss. It's a bit of a drive from Carlsbad, but really a can't miss.

    Don't miss swimming at the LA Jolla cove!!!!

    Getting down to La Jolla is probably not on the cards this trip unfortunately as I have to squeeze my swimming in before/after work and will be somewhat constrained by daylight hours, but it is definitely on my list of places to swim one day though.
