Especially during and after the "old dears" do their aquarobics. I shudder to think what the ladies dressing rooms smell like.

I wasn't planning to answer this question, cause I love everything about swimming. However there is one
down side that came to mind this morning
.
You can't carry on a proper conversation with your swimming buddy while swimming with your face in the water. Most other sports you can chat with your friend while training, but swimming makes that extremely difficult.
