I'm not planning to register, but thought I'd start a thread to add beta for nearby lake swims you really ought not miss if you're out that way.

    I'd like to second @oxo's recommendation. One of the most enjoyable OW events I've been a part of, and probably one-of-a-kind in its format. Gorgeous setting, comfortable (not too warm) water, range of competition, friendly people, family-friendly vibe, camping-optional. And so much fun. I wrote up the 2010 series here.

    This past weekend, water temperture at next weekend's venue was 71F. Area lakes Doris, Lucky, Blow, and Sparks were 71-73. Linton was 62F.
