Irish Marathon Swim Gathering

This Saturday night, the who's who of Irish marathon swimming will gather in Fermoy, Co. Cork for Ned Denison's annual party and the ILDSA awards which will be held jointly for the first time. We have over 100 guests, including the great Steve Redmond and Chris Bryan... Hopefully, we will have a great night and will have a report on how it went next week!

I've always thought of it as the Cork Channel party, Outsiders Welcome. ;-)

@loneswimmer You make it sound like a John B. Keane play! @IronMike Ned has hosted a party at his house for the last few years and the ILDSA have hosted their awards separately. This is the first year that they will be held together and the first ever ILDSA function outside of Ulster or Leinster which is a big step forward...

If it was a JBK play, it'd be the West Cork & Kerry Channel party, and only Steve Redmond would be entitled to go & the rest of us would be blow-ins fighting over the women, the venue, or both and there would be no female Channel swimmers!

@IronMike Ironically, almost none of us are actually members of ILDSA, the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association. I think @Ned is the only member! Which I personally find hilarious.

Very good, @loneswimmer! The "outsiders" wouldn't have a hope, I suppose "the potatoes going black in the ground" would be equivalent to the days before such vicious luxuries as Channel pilots using GPS and the like to get swimmers across...
