Mississippi Sound Islands

Does anyone know of any previous swims from any of the islands in the Mississippi Sound?

Would be a lot cheaper for me than getting out to California, and would be a decent first channel swim. I think Cat Island is about 8 miles, Ship Island is about 12. There is a marked shipping channel out to Ship Island to keep ships out of the shallows around there.
I did find this:
1893 (May) ……….. John Leland Henderson, grandson of U.S. Senator John Henderson of Pass Christian, set a long distance swimming record by swimming from Blake’s wharf at Waveland, Mississippi to Cat Island.
