MSF Documented Swims - 2024
I've been gradually catching up on writing news articles for each of the documented swims submitted to MSF for 2024.
The process for documented swims is:
- Swimmer completes the swim
- Swimmer submits documentation of the swim
- Evan compiles and formats the documentation so that it's beautiful and user friendly to read
- The swim shows up on the list of documented swims, pending ratification: https://marathonswimmers.org/swims/
- The swim review team reviews the swim and votes to ratify
- The swim is ratified!!
We would like to celebrate each swim when the documentation is first submitted with a short news article. You can read these articles here: https://news.marathonswimmers.org/. Currently, I just do one per week, but I will soon catch up to post more quickly after documentation is submitted.
I have to say, I've really learned a lot and have felt inspired learning about other swimmers' experiences. I think you all will too.
I just finished one about four new channel swimming routes in Terengganu, Malaysia done by Ridzwan Rahim, which you can read at the link above, (or subscribe on the link above to get future articles delivered to your inbox).

This is one of my favorite projects ever! Thank you so much for putting so much effort into ratifying and writing the reports. This is my nightly reading sorted for the next few weeks!
Also, I think these reports can be used as reliable sources for Wikipedia articles on marathon swimmers. Wikipedia articles on marathon swimmers have always struggled to be comprehensive because the insanely impressive swims often lack coverage from reliable sources. I plan on spending some time making these articles better using these reports, which should give the swimmers much more recognition since Wikipedia has such heavy traffic.
It would be great if we could get some marathon swimming related "Did you know?"s on the Wikipedia main page.
