Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean leaving FINA circuit

miklcctmiklcct London, United KingdomMember

The race organiser has announced on Facebook that it will leave the FINA circuit after it was told to hold the races in September, which is unrealistic.

Such a shame losing such a prestigious race in the to-do list of top marathon swimmers in the world.

Fabulous news! Hopefully the organizers will rescind the ridiculous FINA water temp rules which (since 2016) allowed wetsuits below 20C and required wetsuits below 18C. The great marathon swimmers of the past managed to challenge this swim without wetsuits since the 1950s; perhaps they will once again, and these last few years will be just an unfortunate aberration.

I don't wish to see bunches of Olympic marathon swimmers getting pulled due to hypothermia.

Then they can a) not swim this race or 2) train in colder water.
