Hi All. Does anyone know if the Swim Around Lido Key is happening in 2022? The website has been down for a while : https://www.swimwithoutlimits.com

    The series is closed. They discontinued it during Covid.

    I just signed up for Honey Moon Island 8 miler, will be my first marathon swim.

    Lido Key was my first marathon swim. I'm sad to see that event go. Honeymoon Island looks nice. Saw this interesting verbiage on their page:

    "Solo Swimmers- Swimmers are allowed to rest on the kayak to access nutrition or to rest if they need it, as long as the kayak is not making forward progress"

    I can't say I have ever seen that on a race description before!

    That was language developed by USMS a few years back for open water events they were sanctioning. Some sort of attempt to make open water "more inclusive" to swimmers who are newer to open water or something, if memory serves.

    I probably don't have to add that it seemed like a bad idea to me. I'm all for inclusion and bringing news folks into the sport, but if a swimmer needs to hang on a kayak during the swim, the swim is over.

    I’m looking for my first 10 K in Florida this year. I was considering the honeymoon island swim discussed above until I read the comment on hanging onto the kayak. So I’m assuming that MSF will not approve/sanction this swim to be recorded as a official marathon swim. Is this correct?

    Also, just got Intel that the Swim Miami 10 K might not happen this year because they are having a hard time getting their permit from the city of Miami
