Watched the men's replay last night (watching women tonight). Winner averaged around 1:05 per 100 meters....I can't wrap my head around that

In really warm water, too!
I hope that one day I can become competitive in these kind of elite competitions. Although I hate hot water I still prefer this more than fighting against waves and currents in a channel with only a pilot boat next to me.
Moreover, as the winner in the 10 km race has also got a medal in the pool 1500 m race, I am further convinced that a good 1500 m pool swimmer also makes a good marathon swimmer as well. In the future I will shift my focus into the pool 1500 m event as a mean to improve my marathon swimming.
Also, congrats to Billy getting the 22nd place in the Olympics!

So, was Pardoe wearing Swedes?! I imagine an unfortunate elbow to the eye socket would be pretty damaging regardless of goggle choice.
