Groups in southern Wisconsin

Going to be in southeastern Wisconsin area last weekend of June. Any groups that meet up for swims? I'll be staying in the Ozaukke County area. Not sure if Milwaukee River is safe to swim from the Thiensville area and up. Grew up there, as a kid we'd water ski on the river, bit didn't swim much. Not sure if it's clean enough.

    I live in Wauwatosa. I would not swim in the Milwaukee River, however it might be perfectly safe. There are a group of swimmers that meet at Lake Michigan near Shorewood, I believe. You can find them on facebook. They have a group page called Lake Michigan Swimmers. Also there is some kind of organized open water swimming done on Pewaukee Lake on Monday nights. It is put on by a triathlon group. I think you might have to pay for it.
