June 12th and 13th saw the culmination of 2 years planning when an all ladies relay team succeeded in crossing the North Channel between Ireland and Scotland, both ways in a record time of 28hrs 25minutes. The team, Caroline Sims, Claire Wookey, Vicki Watson, Louise Stratford and Sarah Gatland described themselves as 5 middle aged ladies out for a picnic on a boat with some swimming included.

This certainly was no picnic, they put their hearts and souls into it and I as their pilot congratulate them on this epic success. Many new records were set by this swim, starting and finishing within Donaghadee town boundaries, a first ever, Fastest time for a 2 way, First ever ladies 2 way relay. Absolutely superb!!!
