it's not a pool, it's a tlme machine.

I swam my first competitive laps at 5 years old. This was in 1962. I was suppose to be 6. (Mom lied about my age.) (Oh, I won)

Well, it hasn't been that glamorous since then,

But, every I take a look at a nice, well maintained lap pool,

I think "this is a time machine! Not a machine that will turn back time, but will make me feel as great as I possibly can"

Regardless, keep paddling away, everyone.

I love it! Whenever I feel old, tired or like giving up, I think back to a 93 year old woman who used to swim at our local meets. She walked with a cane and needed help onto the blocks. Then she swam the 200 fly. I remember feeling ashamed (I only entered the 50 fly, because I didn't want to suffer that much) and inspired as the house came down when she finished.

Yes, the pool IS a time machine!

It's always a bad hair day when you work at a pool.
